Arrival

There is lots of research showing that teens benefit from more sleep and later school start times. So, our students can gradually arrive in the morning, starting as early as 8:30am.

Morning Meeting

Our school day begins at 10am with a daily advisory meeting where we discuss current events, announcements, and plans for the day.

11:00 AM - 12:30 PM
Classes + Projects

Students attend classes or work independently on passion projects and academic work.

12:30 - 1:30 PM
Lunch

Students have an hour for a lunch break to refresh and catch up with friends.

1:30 - 3:00 PM

Project Based Learning

Our courses are designed around hands-on projects, dynamic discussions,
and engaging learning resources.

Documentary Filmmaking

Students produce a documentary to demonstrate their understanding of rhetoric, writing, and filmmaking.

Investment Portfolio

Students manage a virtual stock portfolio to practice math with spreadsheets and to learn about the stock market.

Natural Beauty Products

Students create homemade health and beauty products to explore the biology and chemistry of consumer products.

Internships

LIFE students are encouraged to complete an internship prior to graduation, working with companies on projects that align with their career interests.

Music & Entertainment

Mario interned at Notes for Notes Studio, producing tracks for other student artists and co-hosting events.

Natural Health & Wellness

Kamani interned at Iwi Fresh, an organic spa and marketplace, as she prepares for a career in midwifery and natural medicine.

eSports and Game Development

Christian interns with Pharaoh's Conclave, hosting video game tournaments and designing games.

Passion Projects

Students have time throughout each day to pursue projects related to their interests and goals. They work on these projects individually or in small groups. Here are examples of past and ongoing projects:

ICEY Apparel

Students created and managed ICEY Apparel, a hip hop clothing brand, where they designed and sold original tshirts and sweatshirts.

Verizon App Challenge

Students participated in this mobile app design competition, where they created apps to address needs in their communities.

LIFE eSports Team

The LIFE eSports team won 2nd place in the DreamHack High School Invitational and also hosted its own high school gaming tournament. 

College Preparation

We want every student to understand the preparation process for college admission, so they can make an informed decision about their future. We guide students in preparing for college during each year of high school, according to the following plan:

A dynamic digital platform for collaborating on student projects, managing classes, and sharing school announcements.

Laptops

Families are expected to provide students with a modern laptop to use each day.

Google Apps

A suite of professional tools for students to manage emails (from a school email account), events, and documents, and to safely search the web for great resources.

Transcript

Upon graduation, each student's work is captured in a traditional transcript.

In addition to highlighting student academic achievements, we also feature the student's best projects, trips and internships.
