Traditional High Schools are teacher led, while at The LIFE School,
learning is student directed and personalized to you.
Our courses are designed around a set of hands-on projects, labs and discussions. Each project was designed by a subject matter expert.
Students work with coaches to implement projects based on their interests and goals.
Students learn professional skills in our Pathways courses and are ready to complete internships related to their career goals.
There is lots of research showing that teens benefit from more sleep and later school start times. So, our students can gradually arrive in the morning, starting as early as 8:30am.
Our school day begins at 10am with a daily advisory meeting where we discuss current events, announcements, and plans for the day.
Students attend classes or work independently on passion projects and academic work.
Students have an hour for a lunch break to refresh and catch up with friends.

Students create homemade health and beauty products to explore the biology and chemistry of consumer products.
LIFE students are encouraged to complete an internship prior to graduation, working with companies on projects that align with their career interests.
Here are a few student internships:
Mario interned at Notes for Notes Studio, producing tracks for other student artists and co-hosting events.
Kamani interned at Iwi Fresh, an organic spa and marketplace, as she prepares for a career in midwifery and natural medicine.
Christian interns with Pharaoh's Conclave, hosting video game tournaments and designing games.
Students have time throughout each day to pursue projects related to their interests and goals. They work on these projects individually or in small groups. Here are examples of past and ongoing projects:
Students created and managed ICEY Apparel, a hip hop clothing brand, where they designed and sold original tshirts and sweatshirts.
Students participated in this mobile app design competition, where they created apps to address needs in their communities.
The LIFE eSports team won 2nd place in the DreamHack High School Invitational and also hosted its own high school gaming tournament.

Families are expected to provide students with a modern laptop to use each day.
